Vivendo um momento atípico na temporada, o Goiás conheceu sua segunda derrota seguida, ambas fora de casa. A primeira delas veio na Copa do Brasil, quando perdeu para o Cuiabá, mas se classificou nos pênaltis. Já o segundo revés aconteceu contra o Avaí, na última rodada da Série B.
Em entrevista concedida no pós-jogo, Márcio Zanardi não se isentou da responsabilidade da partida. Em resumo, o treinador falou sobre a oscilação da equipe e, quando questionado sobre as condições ruins do gramado, não colocou como uma desculpa para a atuação do Alviverde.
