Na última quinta-feira (22), pela 11ª rodada do Brasileirão, o Esmeraldino visitou o Vasco, em São Januário, e saiu com a vitória. Em resumo, a torcida cruz-maltina, insatisfeita com a derrota para o Goiás (a sexta seguida do time no campeonato) e com o desempenho do time, começou a arremessar objetos em campo.
Além disso, ao final da partida, também arremessaram sinalizadores, colocando em perigo a vida de quem estava em campo e à volta. Assim, em súmula, o árbitro Jean Pierre Gonçalves relatou que houve arremessos de ‘copos plásticos, latas de refrigerante, sinalizadores e bombas explosivas (rojão)’.
A saber, por conta do episódio, o Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) puniu o clube cruz-maltino com 30 dias de jogos com portões fechados. Além disso, ainda durante a partida, houve também risco à nova comissão técnica do Goiás, que assistia ao jogo em um camarote disponibilizado pela diretoria vascaína.

Em suma, o Goiás, por meio do advogado Dr. João Vicente, do departamento jurídico do clube, protocolou uma notícia de infração junto ao STJD. De acordo com o documento, referindo-se ao lamentável episódio, ‘foram verdadeiros minutos de terror’. Leia parte do documento:
“ […] os torcedores do Vasco da Gama protagonizaram verdadeira guerra nas arquibancadas e arredores do estádio, sendo que, membros da diretoria e staff do Goiás Esporte Clube tiveram, literalmente, que se manter deitados e longe da vista dos ‘torcedores’ do Vasco da Gama, de forma a não terem o local destinado para acompanhar a partida invadido por torcedores/agressores.
As pessoas vinculadas ao Goiás, ao verificarem e iminência de invasão e possível agressão, trancaram a porta de saída e se deitaram na sala, de forma a não serem vistos e identificados por torcedores do Vasco da Gama. Portanto, foram verdadeiros minutos de terror, encerrados após cinco membros da Policia Militar carioca chegarem ao local e realizarem a escolta até a saída.”
