Esmeraldino encerrou a temporada comemorando vaga em torneio internacional
Após 38 rodadas, o Esmeraldino terminou o Brasileirão na 13ª colocação, com 46 pontos. Entre altos e baixos no campeonato, o Goiás conquistou seu principal objetivo, que era permanecer na elite do futebol, e ainda garantiu vaga para a Sul-Americana. A partir disso, a equipe das Feras do Esporte traz uma matéria especial sobre a temporada do Verdão.
No Campeonato Goiano, o Goiás ficou no ‘quase’
Em resumo, o Esmeraldino fez um 1º turno impecável, com sete vitórias, dois empates e somente uma derrota. Além disso, marcou 19 gols e sofreu oito. Assim, com 76,6% de aproveitamento, conseguiu se classificar para as quartas de final na liderança do grupo.
Nas quartas de final, tanto no jogo de ida quanto no de volta, o Goiás venceu o CRAC por 3 x 0 (6 x 0 no placar agregado). Na etapa seguinte, o Esmeraldino enfrentou o Iporá. No primeiro duelo da semifinal, vitória tranquila fora de casa por 2 x 0. Entretanto, na volta, o Lobo-guará derrotou o Verdão por 3 x 2.
Ainda assim, o Esmeraldino avançou para a final. Faltando pouco para conquistar o título estadual, a equipe não conseguiu mostrar o mesmo futebol das outras fases. Dessa forma, perdeu os dois jogos da final (1 x 0 e 3 x 0). Com isso, o Atlético-GO ergueu a taça. Por fim, com nove gols, Nicolas foi o artilheiro do torneio. Em seguida, com sete, ficaram Pedro Raul e Matheuzinho (Vila Nova).
Copa do Brasil
Em resumo, nas fases primeiras da competição, o Verdão empatou com o Sousa-PB (1 x 1), depois venceu o Criciúma (1 x 0) e, por fim, empatou com o RB Bragantino no placar agregado (2 x 2). Com isso, a vaga para os oitavas de final foi decidida nos pênaltis: vitória do Goiás por 9 x 8 em cima do Braga. Com isso, o Esmeraldino enfrentou o Atlético-GO.
No entanto, mais uma vez, o Goiás levou a pior no clássico goiano. Em suma, no jogo de ida, 0 x 0, mas, na partida de volta, em casa, o Esmeraldino foi derrotado por 3 x 0. Dessa forma, a equipe da Serrinha se despediu da Copa do Brasil, acumulando R$ 7,18 milhões em premiação no torneio.

Goiás no Brasileirão
Nas quatro primeiras rodadas, a equipe perdeu duas e empatou outras duas partidas. Já na 5ª rodada, justamente contra o Atlético-GO, o Goiás venceu pela primeira vez na edição. Entretanto, continuou oscilando no torneio.
Chegou a estar na primeira página da tabela, mas não se manteve lá. Por fim, de forma antecipada, conseguiu seu principal objetivo na temporada: permanecer na Série A. Além disso, com três rodadas de antecedência, o Verdão garantiu vaga para a Copa Sul-Americana de 2023.
O clube contou também com o vice-artilheiro do campeonato, Pedro Raul, com 19 gols. Como o Goiás terminou o Brasileirão em 13º lugar, com 46 pontos, o clube irá faturar em premiação R$ 16,6 milhões. A saber, desse valor, cerca de R$ 3 milhões serão repassados aos atletas.
