Em entrevista após a aprovação do novo estatuto do Goiás, o presidente do clube falou com a imprensa. A saber, o mandato de Paulo Rogério Pinheiro se encerra em dezembro deste ano. A partir disso, o dirigente respondeu se pretende ter outro cargo no Esmeraldino posteriormente.
Além disso, Paulo Rogério deu razão para a torcida quanto às cobranças. Em resumo, o Goiás passa por momento complicado, já que, com 35 pontos, o time ocupa a 18ª posição no Brasileirão, na zona de rebaixamento. Após duas derrotas seguidas, o Esmeraldino trocou de treinador.
Com isso, depois da saída de Armando Evangelista, Mário Henrique, técnico do sub-20 do clube, assumiu a equipe principal. Nesta segunda-feira (27), às 21h, o Goiás volta a campo para enfrentar o Cruzeiro em confronto direto pela permanência na Série A.

“ É uma promessa que fiz meu pai em vida: enquanto eu tiver forças e network, eu vou atrás desse dinheiro [para terminar de construir o Estádio Hailé Pinheiro]. Promessa que fiz ao meu pai em vida e vou cumprir isso. Quanto a cargo no Goiás, não tenho a intenção de voltar a ter cargo diretivo mais. Foram três anos muito difíceis na minha vida. Dessa forma, penso em ser conselheiro e nada mais diretivo no clube.”

“ Em 2021, fizemos tudo errado, mas subimos. Sem dinheiro nenhum. Em 2022, fizemos tudo certo, porém, fomos criticados. Agora, em 2023, erramos. Erramos. Não vou passar a mão na cabeça de ninguém. Contratou mal. Dois treinadores ruins [Guto Ferreira e Armando Evangelista], na minha opinião. Errou. Fazer o quê? Erramos. E a torcida está certa em xingar. Fazer o quê? Com o time caindo, quer que eles elogiem?
Tem que xingar mesmo, tem que cobrar. Ano que vem, quando a gente voltar [para a Série A], eles vão bater palmas só no último jogo. No próximo jogo, já vão criticar, falando que não estão contratando direito. O futebol é assim. O presidente vive isso. Quem não quiser ouvir isso, não vira presidente. Não vou atacar a torcida em hipótese alguma. Por fim, eles estão no papel de torcedor. Eles são os verdadeiros donos do Goiás. Bola para frente. Se cair, vamos voltar e estruturar o time.”
