Sobre a permanência do camisa 11 do Verdão, o dirigente revelou como foi trazer o atacante e a estratégia para mantê-lo no clube:
“Se ele continuar dessa maneira e terminar o ano como artilheiro do Campeonato Brasileiro e ser convocado para Seleção, é impossível. Agora, eu achava muito difícil trazê-lo, porque disputamos com Vasco, América-MG, Juventude e Coritiba. Para ter noção, o Juventude pagava 1 milhão de reais pelo empréstimo ao clube japonês. Nós fizemos isso com metade e acabamos de concluir o pagamento agora. Desde então, quando vimos que no contrato não tínhamos a opção de compra.
Com isso, a qualquer momento que chegasse uma proposta e o Pedro Raul aceitasse, nós seríamos obrigados a devolver o jogador. Foi um risco terrível que corremos, ou era assim ou não tinha Pedro Raul. Ele honrou e negou duas propostas do Japão para ganhar uma fortuna. Assim, vamos deixar para o fim do ano, quem sabe a gente conta com a boa vontade dele e criamos uma engenharia para ter ele. Vamos contentar com algumas partidas que ele vai disputar pelo Goiás. Eu tenho certeza que vai entregar logo nosso objetivo, como também nossa equipe, que vem jogando um futebol muito competitivo e sério“, revelou.
