Dirigente perdeu a batalha para o câncer nesta semana, mas ficará marcado na história da Cidinha
Faleceu, na madrugada da última quarta-feira (13), Elvis Mendes, presidente da Aparecidense. Após perder a batalha para um câncer no pâncreas, com o qual lutou por mais de um ano, ele deixou esposa e três filhos aos 46 anos.
À frente do clube goiano desde 2018, o dirigente foi muito importante para o Camaleão e, mesmo não tendo completado seu mandato (que ia até o ano que vem), deixou seu nome marcado na história do futebol goiano. Assim, seu bom trabalho foi marcado, também, por bons resultados.
Conquistas de Elvis Mendes com a Cidinha
Ao longo dos últimos cinco anos, Elvis levou a Aparecidense a alcançar voos maiores no âmbito nacional. Sendo precursor pelo clube em diferentes competições, o presidente foi responsável por montar equipes pioneiras.
Dessa maneira, o ano de 2021 foi o mais importante da história do Camaleão desde a sua fundação, em 1985. É de salientar que o time goiano conquistou o título da Série D e, consequentemente, o acesso inédito para a Série C. A saber, foi a primeira vez que uma equipe do Centro-Oeste conseguiu o feito em 15 edições do torneio até hoje.
Já no ano seguinte, a Aparecidense fez uma ótima campanha nas primeiras rodadas da 3ª divisão e possuía grandes chances de ser promovida mais uma vez. Porém, uma queda de rendimento na reta final impediu que o grupo chegasse mais longe, terminando no 8º lugar na tabela de classificação.
