Com o resultado, o Tigre chegou a marca de três vitórias consecutivas pelo campeonato e um aproveitamento de 66.3% nos últimos 10 jogos. Ao todo são 5 vitórias, 4 empates e somente 1 derrota, para o Grêmio fora de casa.
Em suma, o Vila conquistou 19 pontos dos 30 disputados e tem a 2ª melhor campanha do returno da segundona. Em primeiro lugar, está o atual líder e provável campeão Cruzeiro, com uma vitória a mais e zero derrotas, conquistando 22 pontos que levaram o clube mineiro à disputa da Série A no ano que vem.
Devido à boa campanha, o Vila Nova conseguiu reverter a situação crítica na tabela de classificação.
